But you can use any tool – pencils and paper or Copic markers or Photoshop because the drawing method remains the same.
Let’s dive in!
How to draw a cute Pumpkin Pie – Easy Step by step Tutorial
We will break it down into simple shapes so you can draw the pumpkin pie easily, okay?
I’m going to start with the pumpkin pie filling first.
Let’s draw a simple rectangle shape first. Make sure that the rectangle is slightly skewed (tilted) so that the pumpkin pie slice looks more realistic.
Next, draw a simple L shape underneath the rectangle. Make sure the corner is curved.
This is going to be our pie crust, so we need to make sure it fits in nicely with our pumpkin pie filling.
Easy, right?
Please note that I am drawing this pumpkin pie in a cartoon style.
If you’re looking for a book to teach you how to draw cute foods in a kawaii style, there is no better book than this!
Next, draw a small protruding shape on top of the L.
This is going to be the edge of the pumpkin pie crust.
Now, it’s time to complete the pumpkin pie slice. Draw another line at an angle to the rectangle and a curve – similar to a triangle with a curved base.
Now, finish drawing the pie crust by adding jumpy lines on top of the crust like so:
I want to make the pumpkin pie slice look more realistic, so I’m going to erase the bottom line of pumpkin pie filling.
And then draw jagged lines along the bottom instead, just to make it look like the filling is sitting nicely inside the crust.
The pumpkin pie slice is complete.
But what good is pie without some whipped cream on top?
To draw the cream, simply draw a squiggle on the top – this is the first layer of the cream.
Now, draw a larger circular bottom to complete the cream topping.
You can end the pumpkin pie drawing here or add a small cute face. I like drawing kawaii food, so I’m going to add 2 eyes and a mouth to my pumpkin pie slice.
Skip this if you want your pie to have a face.
Now, it’s time to color the pie!
How to color the pumpkin pie
Remember to clean up the lines by erasing all the overlapping lines before you start coloring the pumpkin pie.
Pumpkins are orange, but this is cooked pie, so use a darker orange when coloring the pie. The top part of the pie is even darker since the oven has heated it well.
The crust is biscuity so color it with a darker cream or beige color.
Now, to color the cream, use a light cream color close to white.
And your pie is done, but if you want to make the face cuter, just add 2 blush spots under the eyes of the pumpkin pie slice.
I like doing this because it makes the food cuter!
And we’re done!
We just finished learning how to draw a cute pumpkin pie!
