I am currently using an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil to create my digital art.
But you can use any tool – a pen and paper or color pencils or Copic markers or Photoshop because the drawing method remains the same.
How to draw a guinea pig – Easy Step by step instructions
I’m going to start with a rough template before drawing the guinea pig.
This will help us draw the guinea pig very easily.
Let’s start with 2 circles overlapping slightly like this:

If you’re drawing with traditional tools (and not digital), please use the pencil very lightly because we are going to erase these circles later.
Next, we’ll use the circles as a template to draw the guinea pig’s face. Just start drawing a double curve like this using one of the circles as a guide line.

Now, draw the body of the guinea pig like this. The bottom of the guinea pig will be extremely curved:

Complete the whole body – their bodies are very long and curved. So, you don’t have to overthink it much when you’re drawing the guinea pig.

Now, we’ve finished our main outline of the guinea pig’s body.
We can start adding lots of details to it.
Let’s start by drawing 2 eyes and a small nose on the guinea pig. Because we are drawing a cartoon-style guinea pig, we don’t need to overcomplicate the features.

Next, let’s draw the ears.
The ears are little triangles pointing downwards like this:

We can erase the template now because we’ve finished drawing the main part of the guinea pig – the body!
Once you’re done, just add a small L shape underneath the guinea pig’s ear – this is because the guinea pig’s ears are usually folded and scrunched up.

Next, we’re going to draw the little feet of the guinea pig – just draw small tiny curves under the guinea pig-s body and these will become the cute feet.

We’re done drawing the whole guinea pig!
Now, it’s time to color the guinea pig.
Since, I am drawing this digitally, I’m going to start coloring the whole guinea pig a light cream color.

Next, I’ll add patterns to it.
Guinea pigs have different varieties of patterns and colors – so just do a simple google search for guinea pigs and you’ll see all kinds of guinea pigs! You can just use those for inspiration when it comes to coloring your guinea pig.
I’m going to use a camel brown or sand brown to color a pattern on the guinea pig like this:

Next, I’m going to use chocolate brown to add more patterns to the guinea pig.
Remember, you can add any color and pattern you want to your guinea pig when you’re coloring it.

Next, I’m going to color the feet and the inside of the ears a baby pink like this:

And last, I’ll color the guinea pig’s nose a peachy pink like this.

I’ll add some highlights and then I’m done. You can see how I color my digital art and add highlights and shadows in this post. It includes a video.

And we’re finished!
Remember, you can color your guinea pig any color you want!
We’ve finished learning how to draw a guinea pig.

If you are interested in drawing anything in a kawaii style and then selling stickers online, check out this amazing course!
My friend Ilaria created this course on Domestika – she’s been drawing cute things for years, and she’s finally created a course that teaches people how to make cute kawaii drawings and then make stickers and sell them!
It’s honestly one of the cutest and most inexpensive courses that you can get – especially if you want to sell stickers in your online store – like Etsy or Creative Market.
The course is in English, and it’s amazing!
What do you need?
A sketchbook, Photoshop or Procreate, and a graphic tablet so that you can draw the kawaii characters. If you want to make stickers, you’ll need a printer and sticker sheets. I explain how to make stickers on Procreate here.
Even if you don’t want to make stickers and just draw kawaii animals, this course is perfect!
