How to draw a mermaid cat – Easy Step by step instructions
Step 1: Drawing the outline of the mermaid cat
Let’s start with the head of the cute cat.
We’ll start by drawing the 2 pointy ears and the head of the cat.
Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect.
I’m drawing this mermaid cat in a cartoon style.
If you’re looking for a book to teach you how to draw a kawaii unicorn and other animals in a kawaii style, there is no better book than this!
Now, I’m going to draw the line that separates the cat and its mermaid tail – just draw a straight line below the cat’s face.
Next, I’m going to add some flair to this mermaid cat and draw a nice frilly line with lots of squiggles. This is super fun for kids!
Now, let’s draw the fun part of the mermaid cat – the mermaid tail!
I’m going to go ahead and draw a long, curvy line like a “C” shape.
And let’s finish the tail by drawing the other side.
Super easy, isn’t it?
Now, let’s draw the tail fins.
Think of the tail fins like petals – then it becomes easy to draw!
Now, let’s draw the other tail fin of the mermaid tail.
Now, let’s draw the face of this cute cat.
We’ll stick to drawing a simple face – so just 2 eyes and a “U” shaped mouth.
Doesn’t that look super cute?
Now, it’s time to draw the scales on the mermaid cat!
Let’s begin with small “U” shapes – take your time to draw this.
Isn’t that fun?
Now, let’s repeat this for the whole tail – just break the mermaid tail into sections and draw the scales one row and a time.
And you should end up with something like this!
We’ve learned how to draw a mermaid cat.
Now, all that’s left is to color this cute drawing!
Step 2: Coloring the mermaid cat
The most challenging part is over.
Now, we just need to color this cute mermaid cat.
I’m going to start coloring the cat’s face first. I’m going to go for a light grey, but you can color the cat any color you wish!
I feel like the face is a little incomplete.
So, I’m going to add some blush spots to make the mermaid cat look more adorable!
And now, I’m going to color the cute frilly fins and the scales underneath the cat’s head.
I’ll go in with a royal purple because I love purple.
I’ll add more colors like pink and blue too. Remember, you can color your mermaid cat any color you want.
Let your imagination run wild!
Next, we just have to color the fins of the mermaid tail.
And the mermaid cat is almost done.
But if you want to add more texture to the tail fins, I suggest drawing some simple lines.
Just use a color darker than the color you’ve already used to color the tail fins.
I’ll go for a deeper purple to draw the lines.
And voila!
By dividing the tail fin into little sections with those simple lines, the mermaid cat is now complete!
And you’ve just learned how to draw and color a mermaid cat.
Congratulations.
