How to Draw a Cute Capybara - Draw Cartoon Style!

I love drawing cute kawaii animals

I had never heard of a capybara until recently – and I discovered that there are cafes in Asia that you can go to pet Capybaras – that’s the dream.

I’ve already done a lot of tutorials on drawing cute and kawaii animals that you can check out here.

In this post, I’m going to show you how to draw a capybara step by step so that by the end of the tutorial, you’ll get something like this: I know it looks hard – but it’s not if you follow my steps!

I am currently using an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil to create my digital art.

But you can use any tool – a pen and paper or color pencils or Copic markers or Photoshop because the drawing method remains the same.

How to Draw a Cute Cabybara – Step by Step for beginners

I always start with simple shapes so that anyone can do this drawing.

In this post, I’ll teach you how to draw a capybara step by step – if you like drawing kawaii animals, you’ll love this!

First, we’re going to draw the snout – so just draw a semi-circle like this:

Next, let’s draw the ace. We are going to draw another curve and the ear at the top – the capybara’s ears are usually on top of its face.

Next, let’s draw the legs – so we’re going to draw the front two legs first like this.

Next, we’ll draw the tummy, the back leg and the behind of the capybara.

Now, finish the capybara by drawing the back of its head.

And the outline is completely finished!

Let’s add the ey and the nose – so we’re going to keep it simple and use simple lines to do this. Their eyes are very small squinty so this drawing is going to be just like that!

Now, we’re done so it’s time to color the body.

I’m going to draw color the capybara brown.

Next, we’ll color the nose and the feet a darker shade of brown – I’m also going to add some blush spots to make it look cuter!

And we’re done.

What do you need?

A sketchbook, Photoshop, and a graphic tablet so that you can draw the kawaii characters. If you want to make stickers, you’ll need a printer and sticker sheets.
