I love drawing cute chibi animals.

These drawings are super cute to add to any notebook or planner and also make great drawing projects for kids.

I’ve already done a lot of tutorials on drawing cute and kawaii animals that you can check out here.

In this post, I’m going to show you how to draw a cute raccoon face step by step so that by the end of the tutorial, you’ll get something like this:

I am currently using an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil to create my digital art.

But you can use any tool – a pen and paper or color pencils or Copic markers or Photoshop because the drawing method remains the same.

How to draw a cute raccoon face – easy step-by-step tutorial for kids

I always start with easy shapes so that you can draw practically any animal easily!

Please note that a raccoon’s face is rather simple to draw – where it matters is the coloring. The raccoon’s face has a unique pattern, especially the dark grey (almost black) pattern around its eyes.

So, that’s where we want to pay the most attention!

Ready?

Let’s start!

In this case, we are going to start a simple semi-circle first.

Imagine you’re drawing a rainbow and draw a nice big semicircle like this:

Next, I will draw the bottom part of the raccoon’s face – you will draw a rounded C shape right underneath the semi-circle.

This will become the raccoon’s cute chubby cheeks!

Draw the bottom part of the raccoon's face

We’ve finished drawing the raccoon’s face.

Now, it’s time to draw the pointy ears.

Just draw 2 triangular shapes at the sides of the raccoon’s face on either side.

Draw the ears

Then, we will draw the facial features.

Let’s draw 2 small eyes and a nose on the raccoon’s face. Underneath the nose, draw a small line dragging downwards to indicate the cute muzzle.

Draw 2 eyes and a nose

Now, erase the outline of the face that is underneath the ears so that the face looks cleaner – this will also make it easier to color the raccoon’s face!

Erase the rough lines

We’re almost there.

To finish this raccoon’s face drawing, we just need to start coloring the raccoon.

Let’s start with a simple light grey.

If you’re not drawing this digitally, please skip to the end to see the final result.

Color the racoon's face grey

Now, I’m going to draw a small white pattern around the eyes until I reach the ends of the face. Pretend you’re drawing spectacles on the raccoon’s face – this will make drawing easier!

Draw the areas around the eyes

Color the whole bottom part of the section white.

Color the bottom part of the racoon's face white

Now, draw 2 white teardrop accents above the nose in the center.

Draw kawaii characters and make stickers!
Add 2 white accents above the eyes

And draw 2 dark grey spots around the eyes. It looks like the raccoon has been using pranked binoculars.

Color the area around the eyes dark grey

Finally, draw 2 small triangular shapes inside the ears to complete the raccoon drawing.

Add 2 small grey triangles on the ears

You can leave it at this, or add some small fur indentations and shadows to the face to give the raccoon’s face more depth!

Add shadows

Congratulations!

Learn how to create kawaii characters.

My old bud Ilaria (we’ve been friends on Instagram back when I had Instagram) created this course! I’ve watched her grow from 0 followers, and I’m so, so proud of her!

And believe it or not, there is not 1 single good online course about learning how to draw kawaii art and then making physical stickers on the internet. I’ve been looking for a course like this for a long, long time.

And it’s finally here!!!

You can create your own stickers and print them and sell them on Etsy or any space! She goes into detail about how to draw the characters.

This is by far one of the best courses I’ve taken that is so cute and so educational.

The course is in English, and it’s amazing!

What do you need?

A sketchbook, Photoshop, and a graphic tablet so that you can draw the kawaii characters. If you want to make stickers, you’ll need a printer and sticker sheets.

Even if you don’t want to make stickers and just draw kawaii characters, this course is perfect!
