How to Draw a Kawaii Burger

If you’ve been reading my website for a while, you’ll discover I love food, and drawing food even more.

I have recently developed an addiction to drawing food in a kawaii style.

This particular style is used popularly for stickers. And after a few suggestions from my readers, I have decided to open a sticker shop soon!

In this post, I will teach you to draw a kawaii burger.

This is what you’ll learn by the end of this post:

Once you add the highlights and shadows, you'll have finished learning to draw a cute kawaii burger

How to draw a kawaii burger step by step – Easy tutorial for beginners

Please note that I’m using Procreate and drawing this digitally. I talk more about how I got started with digital art here.

You can use any tool you want to make this drawing because the process basically is the same. You can use color pencils, pens or crayons – it’s completely your choice!

Let’s begin.

Step 1: Draw the burger buns

First, I’m going to draw the burger bun.

I’ll start with an easy semi-circle.

Keep your drawing very plain and remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect – it’s okay if the lines are shakey – it will have a nice hand-drawn feel!

Draw a semi circle

Next, we’ll draw the bottom part of the bun. Again, I’m not going to make the line perfect.

Draw the bottom part of the burger bun

We can change the top of the burger bun to a cute kawaii animal later. First, let’s draw the rest of the burger.

Step 2: Draw the burger contents

Okay, now that we’ve drawn the top bun, we can go ahead and draw the remaining burger’s contents.

You can draw any topping or filling you want.

But I’m going to draw lettuce because I honestly love lettuce in my burger.

And to make your lettuce more organic, draw wavy lines and 2-3 pieces of lettuce. This way, it will look like a real burger.

Start drawing the lettuce

Next, I’m going to draw a huge patty underneath the lettuce – remember to use simple lines when drawing the burger’s contents.

Draw the patty of the burger

I’ve drawn a line in the middle that makes the patty look more rounder and whole.

Next, I will draw some cheese slices and add more lettuce underneath the burger patty.

Remember, you can draw any burger layer you want and mix and match different layers. This is your drawing – so get creative!

Draw the cheese layer and another layer of lettuce

Now, I’ll draw some tomato slices underneath the lettuce layer and finish drawing the bottom part of the bun.

Draw the final burger bun

Once I’m happy with the burger I’ve drawn, I will change the outline’s color to brown. If you’re drawing kawaii food, always remember to use brown as your outline color. This gives a very peachy and cute look to the whole drawing!

Change the color of the outline

Next, I’m going to add 2 ears to the burger bun and 2 small eyes, and a nose to the burger bun.

I am doing this to make the top burger bun resemble a bear.

But you can draw any animal. If you change the ears, you can also make it look like a cat or a dog!

Remember, kawaii drawings don’t need to make sense – they just need to look cute! That’s their whole purpose.

Edit the top burger bun to any animal of your choice

Step 3: Color your kawaii burger

I’m going to color the burger bun a medium brown.

And I will add some details to the bun to make it look cuter.

I’ll add blush spots to the bear’s cheek and light brown accents to the muzzle and the ears.

You can even add spots on your burger bun to give it that bread texture.

Next, I’m going to color the lettuce a bright green and add some wavy lines to add more texture to the drawing.

Color the lettuce

Next, I’ll color the patty a dark maroon and the cheese a mustard yellow.

Color the other toppings

Finally, I’ll color the tomato slices an orangish red and add some details to the tomato slices.

Color the tomatoes and add more details

Once you’re happy with your kawaii burger, you can add some highlights to your burger.

Once you add the highlights and shadows, you'll have finished learning to draw a cute kawaii burger

And voila, you’ve learned how to draw a cute kawaii burger!

And believe it or not, there is not 1 single good online course about learning how to draw kawaii art and then making physical stickers on the internet. I’ve been looking for a course like this for a long, long time.

And it’s finally here!!!

You can create your own stickers and print them and sell them on Etsy or any space! She goes into detail about how to draw the characters.

This is by far one of the best courses I’ve taken that is so cute and so educational.

The course is in English, and it’s amazing!

What do you need?

A sketchbook, Photoshop, and a graphic tablet so that you can draw the kawaii characters. If you want to make stickers, you’ll need a printer and sticker sheets.

Even if you don’t want to make stickers and just draw kawaii characters, this course is perfect!
