How to Draw a Cute Kawaii Hamster Eating a Banana

I love drawing cute kawaii animals.

These types of drawings are super cute to add to any notebook or planner and they also make great drawing projects for kids.

And I’ve been obsessed with drawing kawaii animals lately.

I’ve already covered how to draw a hamster, a guinea pig here and a Christmas guinea pig here.

Although hamsters and guinea pigs are very similar, they’re quite different when you draw them. Today, I thought I’ll teach you to draw a hamster.

I’ve already done multiple kawaii tutorials here. So, check it out if you haven’t already.

In this post, I’m going to show you how to draw a kawaii hamster eating a banana step by step so that by the end of the tutorial, you’ll get something like this:

12 - color the banana

I am currently using an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil to create my digital art.

But you can use any tool – a pen and paper or color pencils or Copic markers or Photoshop because the drawing method remains the same.

How to draw a kawaii hamster eating a banana- Step by step for beginners

I always start with very easy shapes so that anybody of any age can draw this.

So, let’s start by drawing a simple semi-circle like this: this is going to be the top part of the head of the hamster.

1 - draw the top of the hamster's head

Next, we are going to draw the 2 cheeks stuffed because the hamster is eating. And usually the hamster’s cheeks fill out when they’re munching on something.

2 - draw the hamster's cheeks

Next, draw the 2 ears on the hamster.

3 - draw the ears

Now, draw 2 eyes, the nose and mouth – draw 2 whiskers on the cheeks as well.

4 - draw the whiskers

Draw the body of the hamster – it needn’t be perfect – just draw a curve like this.

5 - draw the body

Next, I’ll draw the arms and legs of the hamster.

Make sure the arms are pointing inwards like this – we are going to draw the banana soon!

6 - draw the arms and legs

Now, draw the banana right under the hamster’s mouth.

7 - draw the banana

Next, draw the banana peel like this. This is going to be the peel that’s already peeled.

8 - draw the banana peel

Next, draw the rest of the banana – let the arms overlap so that it looks like the hamster is holding the banana.

9 - draw the banana peel

We’re done drawing the hamster.

Let’s color this little guy now.

Color the hamster any color you want.

Don’t forget to color the ears, arms, and legs a light pink color.

10 - color the hamster

Next, add blush spots to the hamster’s cheeks.

11 - add blush spots

Finally, color the banana!

And you’re done.

12 - color the banana

We’re done!
