How to Draw a Persian Cat

I love drawing cute chibi animals.

These types of drawings are super cute to add to any notebook or planner, and they also make great drawing projects for kids.

I’ve already done a lot of tutorials on drawing cute and kawaii animals that you can check out here.

In this post, I’m going to show you how to draw a Persian cat step by step so that by the end of the tutorial, you’ll get something like this: I know it looks hard – but it’s not if you follow my steps!

14 - color the cat

I am currently using an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil to create my digital art.

But you can use any tool – a pen and paper or color pencils or Copic markers or Photoshop because the drawing method remains the same.

How to Draw a Persian cat – Step by Step for beginners

I always start with simple shapes so that anyone can do this drawing.

In this post, I’m going to draw a rough sketch of the body first – so that we can draw the fur more easily when we’re drawing the actual persian cat.

This way it will become easier to add the details.

Persian cats are known for their fluffiness so we have to depict that in our drawing!

So, first, let’s draw 2 curves like this:

1 - draw the sies of the personal cat

That’s going to be our head.

Now, we’re going to draw the rough shapes for the body – I’m going to draw 2 more curves like this and end it with a flat line.

2 - draw more curves like this

Next, we will draw the tail over on one side.

3 - draw the tail

And we’ll finish by drawing the legs somewhere close to the opposite end.

4 - draw the legs

That’s it!

Now, I’m going to lighten these lines in Procreate by adjusting the transparency and on a new layer, I’ll start drawing the head and the ears by using the dry ink brush.

So, a simple curve and 2 pointy ears like this:

5 - start drawing the top of the ears and face

Now, we slowly start drawing the face, by drawing jagged lines – this is going to be our furry face.

6 - draw the sides of the face

Next, continue drawing the other side of the face too – the lines don’t need to be perfect – cat’s fur looks seamless but it’s quite messy.

7 - draw the other side

Next, we’re going to draw 2 eyes and a small mouth – this is going to be the little face.

8 - draw the eyes and mouth

Continue drawing the rest of the body.

9 - draw the sides

Repeat the same process on the other side and even underneath the persian cat.

10 - draw the body

Now, you’re going to want to add some fur on the chest in the middle of the cat and even some fur above the legs like this – Persian cats are super fluffy here.

11 - add some fur to the chest

Next, draw the legs – don’t forget to draw the paws.

12 - draw the legs

Lastly, draw the tail – remember to make the fur not so uniform so it looks more realistic and natural.

13 - draw the tail

And that’s it!

You can color your persian cat any color you want – I’m going to go in with a cream color and add 2 blush spots to the cat as well!

14 - color the cat

Enjoy!

Learn how to create kawaii characters.

My old bud Ilaria (we’ve been friends on Instagram back when I had Instagram) created this course! I’ve watched her grow from 0 followers, and I’m so, so proud of her!

And believe it or not, there is not 1 single good online course about learning how to draw kawaii art and then making physical stickers on the internet. I’ve been looking for a course like this for a long, long time.

And it’s finally here!!!

You can create your own stickers and print them and sell them on Etsy or any space! She goes into detail about how to draw the characters.

This is by far one of the best courses I’ve taken that is so cute and so educational.

The course is in English, and it’s amazing!

What do you need?

A sketchbook, Photoshop, and a graphic tablet so that you can draw the kawaii characters. If you want to make stickers, you’ll need a printer and sticker sheets.

Even if you don’t want to make stickers and just draw kawaii characters, this course is perfect!

And if you are really keen on improving your drawings or you want to create cute kawaii animals and kawaii people, check out this second course by Sara.

Sara teaches you how to draw anything in a nice kawaii style. I really love these kinds of courses because they’re so easy to learn and it’s very easy to get clients because this is a really relatable drawing style.

It is in Italian but it comes with subtitles and it’s really easy to follow.
