In this post, I’ll teach you to draw a puppy in a pumpkin.

This is such a cute drawing to make in time for Halloween and will make a great drawing project for both kids and adults.

How to draw a Puppy in a Pumpkin step by step – Easy tutorial for beginners

Please note that I’m using Procreate and drawing this digitally.

You can even use Clip Art Studio as it is beautiful software that most digital artists use, including Manga and Anime artists.

I talk more about how I got started with digital art here.

You can use any tool you want to make this drawing because the process basically is the same. You can use color pencils, pens or crayons – it’s completely your choice!

Let’s begin.

Step 1: Draw the puppy

We will start by drawing the top of the dog’s head – I am going to use very easy shapes.

Just draw a simple semi-circle like this.

Next, we will draw the dog’s ears by drawing 2 inverted triangles at the sides of the dog’s head.

Alright and next, we’ll draw 2 cute eyes and a nose for our puppy.

Next, we are going to draw 2 paws on the puppy that is in the pumpkin. The paws will make it look like the puppy is peeping out from the pumpkin.

Let’s finish the face of the puppy by drawing a curve underneath the puppy’s face.

We’ve finished drawing the puppy. It’s time to draw the pumpkin.

Step 2: Draw the pumpkin

Let’s start by drawing 2 big curvy lines at the side of the puppy.

This is our huge pumpkin.

Next, we are going to draw the ridges of the pumpkin’s skin.

So, underneath the pumpkin, draw wavy lines like these:

And lastly, let’s make the pumpkin super cute.

You can draw any face you want on the pumpkin – but today I am going to draw a cute smiley face on the pumpkin like this:

And we are done drawing the puppy and the pumpkin.

Easy, wasn’t it?

Step 3: Color the puppy in the pumpkin

You’re going to want to make your pumpkin a beautiful bright orange.

You can also use a darker orange or brown to draw the ridges on the pumpkin.

Next, start coloring the dog.

You can color your puppy any color you want. But for this drawing, I am going to go for a chocolate pup since this pup reminds me of my own – Chloe.

Next, I’ll add a muzzle to the puppy’s mouth and some blush spots to the puppy and the pumpkin!

And voila, we’ve finished drawing a cute puppy in a pumpkin.
